Sadie and her mother and father went for a walk. They walked down the road to see what they could see.
The first thing they saw was a place with lots of water. Plants grew all around, and Sadie saw that there were animals swimming there.
Sadie could tell it was much bigger than a puddle, but not bigger than her front yard.
What did Sadie see?
A pond!
In the pond Sadie saw some birds swimming on the water. Some were grey, but some were very colorful. They went ‘quack!’
What did Sadie see?
Some ducks!
Next to the pond Sadie saw a bunch of trees. It looked like they were all the same kind of tree, and they were all in rows.
What did Sadie see?
An orchard!
One of those trees had branches hanging close to the road. The branches were full of fruit! The fruit was red and round. Sadie knew what they were, because there was some of the same fruit in the fridge at home, and she had had one for a snack yesterday.
What did Sadie see?
Apples!
After they passed the orchard, there was a big field with lots of long grass. In the field there was a big animal eating some of the grass. It had a long face and long legs. Sadie had seen people riding these animals a few times.
What did Sadie see?
A horse!!
At the edge of the field, Sadie saw a small animal that moved very quickly. It was brown, with black and white stripes on its’ back, and was a bit bigger than her hand.
What did Sadie see?
A chipmunk!
